Sofa Seating

Booking a sofa seat entitles you to use our unique 'Text Waiter Service'. Each sofa
is named after a star from the golden age of cinema. Upon arrival you will be given
a menu and shown where your sofa is located. Once the film has begun, you can
simply text your order and seat name and we will deliver your drinks and snacks
straight to you; no need to miss the film! See below for a plan of our sofas in
both screens.

We advise booking sofa seats in advance where possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Are there concessions on sofas?

No. Concessions are only available on standard seats.

Are standard seats allocated?

No, we don’t allocate standard seats, it’s first come, first served. That does mean that for a sell-out, if there are more than two people in your party and you arrive past the start time, you might not all be able to sit together.

Do you take part in the Orange Wednesdays 241 scheme?

We do, but the 241 offer only applies to our standard seating, and not our sofa seats.

Does the cinema have disabled access?

We do have access to Screen 1, including ground floor disabled facilities, but unfortunately there is no wheelchair access to Screen 2.

Do you offer discounts for disabled people?

We do, as long as they have a CEA (Cinema Exhibitors Association) card, which will allow carers to attend for free.

When I’ve bought my tickets, do you post the tickets out?

No, we e-mail a ticket confirmation when you purchase online, but bringing that with you on the day of the screening isn’t essential; all you need do is quote your name at the box office. If you can bring the debit/credit card you booked on, all the better.

Can I book a three/four seater sofa for two people?

We keep three/four seaters free for larger parties until 20 mins before the start of the screening, and if they haven't sold by then, we can sell them for two people.

Terms & Conditions

Concessionary tickets are available to students with a valid NUS card, unemployed with a valid
DSS form, under 16s and over 60s.

The programme details are correct at the time of publication. We reserve the right to cancel or
alter the advertised programme.

All tickets purchased are non-refundable. Any changes to bookings or cancellations must be made
24 hours prior to the booking. Changes to bookings and refunds are at the manager's discretion.

Latecomers can spoil the enjoyment of others and are therefore only admitted at the manager's
discretion but no later than 15 minutes after the performance starts.

Doors open 30 mins before the first performance. Screen 1 is accessible to wheelchair users,
however we are unable to offer access to screen 2 due to the age and layout of the building.
Please call in advance if possible to arrange for easy access into the building

Due to the unreliability of the mobile phone network, the text waiter service cannot be guaranteed.

The management reserve the right to change your seat to one of an equivalent value or to
refund the difference.

PARKING
For those customers coming by car, we now have a partnership with the New Street NCP car park located on St Jude’s Passage, opposite The Victoria pub (see P sign on the map above). Our customers can park there for just £3.00 for five hours.
Please note, this is a multi-storey car park - DO NOT park at the open air NCP car park which is very close by, as the offer is not valid for this car park.
All you have to do is mention that you’re parked there when you come to our box office to collect your cinema tickets, and we’ll give you a special ticket.
When you return to the car park, insert your initial car park ticket, which will bring up the normal tariff. Then insert our ticket, and the price will automatically drop to £3.50 as long as you have not exceeded the limit of five hours.
Please ask a member of staff if you have any queries or click here for the official NCP website for this car park.

How to use the Orange Wednesdays two-for-one offer

To claim your 241 voucher, you must be on the Orange network and either text the word FILM to the number 241, call the number 241 from an Orange phone, or access Orange World on your phone.

The Orange customer will then receive a special text message, called a text ticket, which contains a unique 8 digit code. The customer then shows their text ticket at the box office and asks for an Orange Wednesdays free ticket (another full price ticket for the same film must also be purchased). A small electronic device at the box office point, called the Orange box, will be used to redeem the text tickets.

Orange Wednesdays Terms & Conditions

The promotion applies to all public paid advertised screenings, excluding premieres and other private screenings, on Wednesdays.

Text tickets are only redeemable on Wednesdays during the offer period during advertised opening hours of The Electric.

The offer is not available when booking in advance by whatever means, and is not available until 30 minutes before the screening you wish to attend.

Text tickets must be presented at The Electric box office when buying the cinema ticket. The lowest price ticket will be issued free. Once validated, the text ticket can't be used again.

The offer is not available on sofa seating at The Electric in any way and only applies to standard seats.

There is a maximum of one text ticket per person per transaction. You can only use a text ticket once and the promotion cannot be used in conjunction with any other offer.

Orange will only accept original text tickets, not copies.

The 'free' cinema ticket issued is complimentary, with zero cash value. There is only one 'free admission' per customer, per paid cinema ticket.

Seat availability is on a first come, first served basis. Admission is NOT guaranteed.

Text ticket holders and their guests have no priority over other customers.

Admissions are subject to film classifications. Text tickets are non-transferable.

The 'free' cinema ticket will be issued to the same film and session as the paid cinema ticket. Honouring of text tickets is subject to film and seat availability.
