Did you know that schools and colleges can book themselves in to watch a film and have a special presentation here at The Electric? One of the most recent media studies groups to visit came from St. Thomas Aquinas School in Kings Norton (pictured), and teacher Joe Stevens delivered this glowing testimonial about their experience -

'A really enjoyable day was had by our Year-12 Media students at The Electric. Manager Sam Bishop was keen to understand beforehand the academic purpose of the trip and expertly tailored his pre-film discussion to the students’ module of study; which meant that it wasn’t just a ‘chat’ about the cinema; it became actual evidence for the students’ portfolios. Quite apart from it being an enrichment activity, the students have now discovered one of Birmingham’s most beautiful and important cultural attractions: a cinema that truly offers something different. Overall, it was an experience that the students and I will remember for a long time – and we will be returning!'

If you're a teacher and think that a trip to the UK's oldest working cinema would be of interest to your students, then e-mail Sam Bishop on sam@theelectric.co.uk or call him on 0121 643 7879.
