King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls visit

27th Jun 2012

King Edward VI Camp Hill School for Girls visited The Electric in late April to be given a talk about the cinema's history and then watch Baz Luhrmann's stylish version of Romeo + Juliet, starring Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes, in order to prepare them for studying the actual play for an English module.

Students who visited wrote a report on the days out, which included this description of their experience - 'The lights slowly dimmed and silence fell. The film had begun. As time passed, we saw how Romeo and Juliet’s undying love forced them into their graves. The tragic ending and loss of Leonardo Di Caprio was too much for some members of Year 8, who ended up in floods of tears. The modern recreation of the well-known Shakespearean tragedy was a very beneficial introduction to our upcoming “Romeo and Juliet” module.'

Please get in touch if you'd like to organise an educational visit here at The Electric by calling 0121 643 7879, or e-mailing manager Sam Bishop on sam@theelectric.co.uk.
