Bob Hoskins retires

9th Aug 2012

We were saddened to hear this week that respected British actor Bob Hoskins is retiring from acting following the announcement that he has been diagnosed with Parkinson's Disease.

Hoskins' long CV is littered with classics and cult favourites, including The Long Good Friday, Brazil, Mona Lisa, Last Orders and Who Framed Roger Rabbit, and he also has something of a link to The Electric Cinema itself, as scenes for the critically acclaimed Felicia's Journey - directed by Atom Egoyan and starring Hoskins as a menacing Brummie - were filmed here in the late 90s.

We wish him all the best and will hopefully be screening one or two of his most popular films in the future as tribute to a man who's undoubtedly one of British cinema's best and most loved actors.
