The vinyl countdown

7th Sep 2012

Another special event is being held at The Electric in October as we screen new documentary Last Shop Standing, which looks at the plight of the independent record store, complete with a panel Q&A after the screening.

Based on the successful book of the same name, Last Shop Standing features interviews with a number of record shop owners and musicians, including Paul Weller, Johnny Marr and Billy Bragg, as they recount stories of browsing in record shops and consider what those shops can do today to stay alive in the face of huge changes in the way people buy music.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director Pip Piper, producer Rob Taylor and Jimmy Shannon (pictured) from Birmingham's The Diskery, one of the oldest record shops in the country who've seen the ups and down of the business from the frontlines. To buy tickets for this one-off event, just click here, and for the official website head to www.lastshopstanding.com.
