Godzilla whisky taste-along with Nikka Whisky
Thursday 27th April
8pm (doors 7.30pm)
Director: Ishiro Honda
Japan 1954, 120mins
To welcome in the spring and 'Sakura' (cherry blossom) season, The Birmingham Whisky Club and Nikka Whisky are teaming up to present a 'drink-along' screening of the classic film Godzilla (1954) at The Electric Cinema.
Godzilla is one of the great classics of cinema, from noted special effects director Ishiro Honda, a friend and collaborator of Akira Kurosawa. Made in 1954 and a fierce indictment of the atomic age, Godzilla was an enormous hit for the Toho film studio, creating a legendary monster that entered the lexicon of popular culture worldwide, spawning more than twenty sequels over fifty years, countless rip-offs, and a new genre: the kaiju eiga, or Japanese monster movie.
Founded in 1934 by Masataka Taketsuru, Nikka has risen to become Japan's second largest distiller, producing a wide range of single malts as well as their impressive blended whisky range. Nikka has won numerous awards (including 6 IWSC gold medals in 2015) and has won fans all over the world.
Stef Holt from Nikka Whisky will be guiding the audience through a selection of four whiskies from the brand's delectable whisky range at key moments during the film.
No refunds or transfers. Event is strictly over 18s only.
