Never mind the fireworks come celebrate Guy Fawkes night at The Electric with James McTeigue's visually stunning and thought-provoking adaptation of Alan Moore and David Lloyd's graphic novel V for Vendetta.

Taking the Gunpowder Plot as inspiration, McTeigue deals with a multitude of issues as topical now as when made. Totalitarianism, criticism of religion, homosexuality, Islamophobia, and terrorism. The film's controversial storyline and themes have been the target of both criticism and praise over the years from sociopolitical groups. However, as often with such films over time, what was initially seen by many critics as problems turn into strengths.
