Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve) is an aging French film star who, despite her momentary lapses in memory, remains a venerable force to be reckoned with. Upon the publication of her memoirs, her daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) returns to Paris from New York with her husband (Ethan Hawke) and their young daughter to commemorate its release.

Charming, bold, and imbued with endless emotional insight, THE TRUTH offers a relatable look at human relationships, featuring exquisite performances from its all-star cast.

One of Deneuve's greatest performances, with Kore-eda transforming the magisterial persona she frequently supplies to other directors into something more complex, tragic and yet defiant. She deserves awards for it. And so does the film - Kevin Maher - The Times.

Catherine Deneuve is magnificent as an imperious movie-star diva in the first film that Hirokazu Kore-eda has directed outside his native Japan - Variety.
